CSV is distinctive because of the strength of our work in citizen involvement, volunteering and learning, and our close working relationship with statutory, public, private and voluntary bodies, allied to our independence and thirst for innovation.

CSV has a proven track record in meeting social need, and in establishing new responses to evolving social challenges in the UK and at a European level.

CSV works in partnership with the mass media to mobilise people to participate in their local community.

CSV accesses, retains and shares learning within and outside the organisation. We promote and deliver an agenda of inclusion and active citizenship, and contribute to civil renewal.

CSV’s key themes remain:

Active Citizens & Civil Renewal
Lifelong Learning
Improving Health
Reducing Crime
Opportunities for All & Communities

Over the next 3 years:

CSV will involve 160,000 people of all ages to play an active part in the life of their communities and contribute to the effective development and delivery of public and community services across the UK in 2005/06; 171,000 in 2006/07 and 182,000 in 2007/08

CSV will develop opportunities to involve more than 20,000 disadvantaged or disaffected individuals in their community each year and we will establish four new projects each year for vulnerable individuals

CSV will raise the profile of volunteering and opportunities for citizens to get involved through the ‘Year of the Volunteer 2005’, ‘Make a Difference Day’, ‘Action Earth’ and ‘Get Active Week’ .

CSV will ‘Open Doors’ for volunteering in the public sector, and we will encourage pupils, young people, seniors and staff in public service and private companies to become active citizens.

CSV will join up our services and delivery across the UK to provide access to a wide range of volunteering, learning activities and services.

CSV will consult with our diverse customers and partners to ensure that we remain responsive to, and focused upon, meeting needs and using our limited resources to best effect.

CSV will develop its knowledge and management information systems to internally and externally and establish premises which provide more effective community access and support for partners, volunteers and trainees.

CSV will be committed to organisational development which builds on our solid record and reputation for service delivery.
