CSV Make a Difference Day brings together over 150 voluntary organisations and over 100,000 people who want to volunteer their time. Look at what they acheived in 2005:• Animals: Spitalfields City Farm called on volunteers to come look after farm animals, and paint signs for a nature trail. • Children & Young People: Pitshanger Community Playcentre asked Kim Wilde and other local volunteers to repaint the play centre and sort donated toys • People with disabilities: university students painted a mural at the Hillingdon Hospital Assessment Centre for children with special needs• Environment: a multi-ethnic group of volunteers helped the Council for National Parks beautify parts of the Brecon Beacons • Ethnic minorities: The Bill's Cyril Nri and volunteers from refugee communities repainted the Refugee Council building
• Homeless people: Paul Goggins worked with volunteers to sort clothes and make tea for homeless people in Victoria• Health: 1,000 of knitters rallied to knit outfits to keep premature babies warm • Local community: GMTV designer, Andrea Maflin and a team of young martial artists renovated Fatshan Martial Arts Centre in Tottenham • Older People: youth groups and school children became volunteer befrienders at Jewish Care's elderly residents care home
