What is
poverty?
What volunteer
activities can be done to tackle poverty?
The child poverty lesson plan features a range of engaging
activities, designed to raise awareness of child poverty in
Britain, inspire debate and further understanding of the complex
issues surrounding child poverty.
It is often a topic
that does not receive a great deal of recognition and the extent of
poverty can be surprising. As Sian Lloyd identifies "It's
unbelievable to imagine that in this day and age child poverty
could exist in Britain. The fact that one in three children live in
poverty is simply unacceptable.
This lesson plan is
aimed at Key Stages 3 and 4 and covers many aspects of the
Citizenship curriculum.
"I hope once
students realise that young people in their own country experience
poverty that they will be compelled to take action. The Child
Poverty lesson plan will help achieve this and, hopefully, by
getting involved in CSV Make a Difference Day young people can help
end poverty."
