Q. What is CSV’s VAT position?

A.		A. This is a complex area, which isn’t easy to summarise. We are registered for VAT, but much of our income is either exempt from, or outside the scope of, VAT. In those circumstances, we don’t charge VAT to our customers. (Remember that it’s the nature of the goods or services we’re selling, and not the status of the customer, which determines whether or not we need to charge VAT). We are unable to recover most of the VAT which we’re charged by suppliers, and this is a significant cost to us. Q. When do CSV’s annual accounts become available?

A.		A. Fully-audited accounts will be available from the end of September each year

Q. What’s CSV’s legal status?

A.		A. CSV is a company limited by guarantee, which means that it’s a limited company without any shares. It doesn’t have a formal constitution, but details of its purpose and objectives can be found in the Memorandum and Articles of Association. CSV is also a registered charity
