“Good strategies to promote inclusion”
Springboard Sunderland ALI inspection report, March 2003
A policy of non-rejection means that our training is open to all.
A variety of training programmes have been developed for disaffected, disadvantaged young people, including those excluded from schools, young offenders and those with behavioural problems.
Working through multi-agency initiatives and strategic partnerships, our comprehensive courses boost confidence and self-awareness, enabling and encouraging young people to return to mainstream education or further education and training.
Typical educational programmes include basic literacy and numeracy skills alongside vocational training and cultural learning opportunities. We have proven success in improving the personal development of those involved.
CSV delivers ten Neighbourhood Support Fund (NSF) projects throughout the country supporting some of the hardest to reach young people between the ages of 13 and 19.
Programme examples include:
The Tyneside Travellers Project in Newcastle provides outreach activities for travelling families using mobile classrooms
The Jumpstart programme in Bristol provides an entry route for disaffected young people through driving lessons
Springboard Sunderland’s Solutions initiative is an access programme for disaffected and disadvantaged young people, many of whom are offenders
Springboard Islington’s Youth Reach Project offers an alternative learning curriculum in personal development, academic and pastoral support to young people in Years 10 and 11.
