Responding to today’s publication (Wednesday 9th July 2008) of the Government’s plans to give citizens and communities more rights and power, Dame Elisabeth Hoodless, Executive Director of UK volunteering CSV, said:

“We welcome this white paper and the investment in promoting democracy. We are delighted that there will be a duty on local authorities to involve citizens and we look forward to the opportunity for volunteers to serve in care homes, children’s homes, parks, schools and libraries.”
