Workshops
** New for Spring 2006 - Energy Education workshops **

We offer workshops in a range of topics related to sustainability. Each term, we offer a different topic, builidng up a catalogue of workshops that we can deliver on request

How green is your garden?
First, children explore how animals and plants depend on each other, and are interconnected. Children work in groups to decide this, and then to pool together what they can find in their own gardens.

Teams are then given a budget and shopping list from 'Green and Greeners Gorgeous Garden Shop' and some freebie objects to use in their gardens, then off they go. They design their own 'biodiverse' gardens, making sure they've put in some fun things - the odd tyre swing - too!

Uses some skills...

  • Team working: negotiating, compromise
  • Creativity - the sky's the limit
  • Numeracy
  • Budgeting

Resource use / waste minimisation -
selection available from:

What's in your bin?

  • Limited resources - the global picture
  • What does your school use - waste audit?
  • Composting - how your school can do it?
  • I used to be something else - what can be made by recycling
  • Teenage kicks - focus on mobiles, computers and other teen crazes
  • Coastal litter/recycling site visit where feasible, plus many, many more worksheets available

*New* Energy efficiency/renewable energy
We're working together with Highland Energy Efficiency Advice Centre and the Highlands & Islands Community Energy Company to bring you hands-on, fun workshops on energy education.

  • Think global, act local - why conserve energy?
  • Special Energy Investigators (from CREATE - Centre for Research, Education and Training in Energy) - auditing your school
  • Bright ideas - getting young Energy Champions going

Future workshops can be from a wide range of subjects :

  • outdoor classroom
  • organics
  • sustainable buildings
  • sustainable transport
  • climate change

Let us know what workshops you'd like to see in the future.
