Since 1962, CSV has led innovation in the voluntary and community sector.

We were the first to offer full-time volunteering opportunities to young people in the UK. We pioneered social action broadcasting. We helped make sure Citizenship was added to the national curriculum for every child in the country. We were the first to offer serving prisoners the chance to volunteer.

Through our consultancy services we train public sector and voluntary organisations in volunteer management and media relations. We help grassroots groups to promote their work and find volunteers through our partnership with the BBC, and offer bespoke volunteering projects for companies large and small. We enable public services to work with volunteers and we work to develop volunteering across the EU.

For almost 50 years, we have worked to share our expertise, boost volunteer numbers across the UK and to make sure that the voluntary, public and private sectors have the skills and the knowledge they need to harness the energy of volunteers.
