The Fitting In! Project supports young people aged 8 – 16, many of whom may be experiencing mental distress, some of whom may also have poor physical health, to improve their own physical and mental well-being.
The project aims to improve the understanding of maintaining good health to improve young people’s physical and mental health. Also to offer support to young people who are at risk of increased mental and physical ill-health, and, to produce a learning resource that will be made available to all young people.
Young people are the key to the design and management of this project, and, with support from volunteers and the project team, they decide on a range of activities which are then provided in a safe, supportive and caring environment.
Initially to be piloted in South Tyneside, the project will be ‘rolled-out’ to other geographical areas, and is funded to 2009.
This project is funded via the DoH’s Section 64 fund.
