People volunteer for up to a year so opportunities come up to volunteer at any time. We ask you to go to wherever the opportunities are so you can’t really choose the location; it’s more about where your help is most needed at the time.
There are five ways to apply. Do so when you’ve read a bit more.
When we receive your application we will call you to discuss it. After it's agreed that full-time volunteering is for you we will:
- arrange an interview at a location and day and time that is suitable for you
- ask you for two references
- following your interview write a personal profile of you which you will get to see, and which we can use to find a suitable volunteering opportunity for you with one of our organisations or individuals that need your help.
Then as soon as we think we've found the right placement for you we will let you know and see if our suggestion grabs you. As soon as you've said "yes" we'll sort out the placement and you'll be able to start getting ready to move and begin volunteering. You are provided with accommodation for free and some allowances to live on. Click here to find out how much. Local CSV staff will be on hand throughout your time as a volunteer to answer any questions and help sort out any issues.
Anyone between 16 - 35 years of age can apply to be a volunteer; we are always looking for people with commitment, enthusiasm and who are able to get on well with others.
However, being a volunteer full-time and away from home can be challenging. So, if you’ve not volunteered before or are not sure you can move to another part of the country for some reason, then you might want to think about doing some part-time volunteering for a while first.
If we can’t find a full-time volunteering opportunity that is right for you, we’ll let you know as soon as possible and suggest other volunteering options you might want to try.
