We have hundreds of partner organisations across the UK that make full-time volunteering opportunities available.
By volunteering in an organisation you will be supporting staff, helping pupils, students or service users and learning lots.
You could be volunteering in a special needs or mainstream school or college; a social services day centre for people with learning disabilities or a homeless shelter. Or, you could be mentoring young people with social, family and educational support needs, helping in a residential home for the elderly or in a mental health day centre.
Many of our opportunities in special schools involve assisting with individual and group activities such as literacy, numeracy, motor development and communication or assisting with play and leisure activities. Your help might also be needed with personal care such as dressing, eating, personal hygiene and toileting.
In other schools you might help individual children, building positive relationships and helping to raise self esteem, confidence and motivation. You may be assisting in the classroom, complementing teaching staff and helping pupils who need additional support.
Volunteers in residential homes help to befriend elderly residents, complementing the staff team and supporting in areas such as leisure activities and trips out.
In other settings, CSV volunteers help to befriend young people and offer advice and support in homeless shelters or help users of mental health day centres to achieve as high a level of independent community living as possible.
