If you see an event you would like to come to simply get in touch to let us know you would like to come along.

You will get a reply to confirm your place and give you additional details on the day including directions to the venue, what to bring/wear and who to meet.    Saturday, 4th July:
    Maiden Lane Community 
    Grounds, NW7
Over the years, the communal green spaces on Maiden Lane have been neglected and require some assistance in getting them restored. To ensure that the areas are not neglected again, some of the residents have got together to set up a social enterprise delivering the grounds maintenance contract. They need your help in improving the flower beds by removing weeds, in some cases removing some top soil, laying membrane and bark chip as well as cutting hedges.  Event will run from 10.30am – 3.30pm.
 
 
   Sunday, 5th July:
   Wimbledon and Putney
   Commons, SW19
   (EVENT FULL)
 
The Commons are an area of calm and tranquility in the midst of the urban sprawls of Wimbledon, Putney and Kingston-upon-Thames in South West London. They comprise about 1,140 acres of countryside, with areas of woodland, scrubland, heath land and mown recreation.

Come along and help clear holly and brambles from an area of parkland to make it more accessible to visitors for the summer. Many great local pubs in the area also so perhaps cold beer afterwards would be good! Event will run from 10am -3pm.
 

Sunday 12 July:
Missing People: Volunteers needed

Event will run from 9.30am to 12.30pm


Missing People needs volunteers to help cheer on teams of runners at the British 10K London Run 2009, which takes place on
Sunday 12 July 2009. With over 26,000 runners, the British 10K London Run takes runners past many of central London's world famous historic landmarks.  They will provide sweets to give all the runners that final boost across the line!  

In exchange from your time, voices and clapping Missing People will provide lots of laughs, plenty of snacks and if it rains – brollies.  This event is being organised by Christal-Dionne Reeves of Missing people on 020 8392 4521 or email her at christal-dionne.reeves@missingpeople.org.uk

 

 


    Saturday, 18th July:
    Chelsea Physic Garden,SW3
    (EVENT FULL)
The Chelsea Physic Garden is a 'secret garden' located in the centre of London which hosts over 5000 plant species. Volunteers will be clearing leaves and sprucing the place and many more tasks will be confirmed closer to the date!
 
 
    Saturday, 18th July:
    Priory Heights after school
    Club, N1
                   
This delightful centre is re-opening to the local community after a long time.  With a deadline for August 3, the venue needs help with landscaping, weeding, planting as well as painting and decorating. There will be plenty to do so if you fancy mucking it sign up today! Event will run from 10am-4pm
 
 
    Sunday,19th July:
    Highgate Cemetery, N6 
 
This is a firm GO favourite venue and fills up quickly.  We will be returning to this wonderful venue to continue with the site's conservation. Clearing ivy from graves will be one of many tasks to get stuck in to with more tasks to be confirmed nearer the date. This is set to be a great event so make sure you don't miss out! Event runs from 10am -3pm.
 
Camden New Town Community Festival, NW7
 
The Camden New Town Community festival is looking for Volunteers to be Stewards over the Weekend of 18th & 19th July 2009 i n Camden Square, NW1.
 
The Saturday is a Picnic in the Park from 4-8pm with Jazz, Poetry and Skiffle
 
The Sunday is a family day from 12 to 7.30pm. The Activities include, a Healthy Living area, Green corner, Stage with Music from around the world, Children and Young people areas, Classical Music in the Irish Centre and a varied programme of Music , ballet and Marshall Arts at St Paul's Church.
The Festival sets up on the Sunday from 7am with Volunteers starting from 9am ideally working in groups of three to allow rotation and time to enjoy the Festivals activities.

Volunteers are asked to commit to specific time sofor example 9-12, 12 to 3, 3-6, 6 to 9pm, so that they can contribute and enjoy the Festivals varied programme.
The Volunteers role is to act as host for the Festival, helping and directing people to areas of interest, Manning the Road Barriers, being part of a wider team that helps to manage the Festival space. If there are promblems that are not easily resolved by discussion you can direct people to the festival information Stall or call for help from the Co-ordinator. You are not expected to be a bouncer, the aim is to resolve any dispute tyhrough talking and ifthis is not possible you are expected to call for help from the Co-ordinator.

   Saturday, 25th July:

We are back at this children's centre for the final stretch of work before its opening in early August.  We will be finishing off the painting and decorating, weeding and landscaping.  Event will run from 10am - 3pm.

 
 
  Sunday 26th July:
  Arnolds Circus Community
  Picnic, E2
 

This is a free event for all the local community, for neighbours and strangers to meet, share a meal and music. We'll take the time to celebrate this historic park and build our own fun. And so make this city a better place. We'll close the road, eat our picnics, listen to a brass band and folk music, play ping-pong and Carrom Board, and make various arts activities and bicycle 100 laps around the park in our now legendary bike ride.

 

The local primary school, artists, community groups and business will all be involved.

 

Volunteers are needed to help setting up, stewarding, serving food/drink, giving a helping hand to older and younger folk, overseeing board games and packing everything away.

 

We can offer all volunteers a meal and drink during the afternoon, a Friends of Arnold Circus badge (!) and a thank you barbecue at the end off the day with all participants.
Open to public: 14:00h-20:00h

Volunteers needed: 12:00h-21:00h

DOMINOES - The Project needs volunteers on SUNDAY 26th JULY!

Be part of the biggest public art event to hit East London this summer!

 

Volunteer up to 6 hours and gain free access to the Bank of America / CREATE09 after show party that evening!

 

People who love art or like getting involved in unusual events, who love London, or simply want to see a fantastic one-off spectacle are needed to help out on a unique art project this summer. As joint winner of the Bank of America Create Art Award, Station House Opera are seeking 1,000 volunteers to help build their giant 10 mile domino rally across East and South East London.

   Saturday, 1st August:
   Spedan Close, N3
 

We will be returning to this delightful venue to help clear out overgrown green space into a pleasant, community-accessible nature area. This is a project initiated at the request of the local community. Work will include weeding out shrubs, removing self-sown tree saplings, path installation as well as bird, bat and owl box erection.The feedback from the last event was excellent and we are expecting this event to fill up quick so sign up today. This event will run  from 10.30- 3.30pm.

 

   Sunday, 2nd August:
    Morden Hall, Surrey, SW4 

Morden Hall is a firm favourite for GO volunteers and after the very successful event back in March, we have been invited to this National Trust property in South London to complete various habitat conservation tasks. We'll be doing wetland and reed mace clearance a chore enjoyed by many last time! The event will run from 10am-4pm.


 

    Saturday, 15th August:
