Blow away those cobwebs with the first GO London walk of 2008 on Sunday 24th February!
This time, we’re heading south-east to do a section of the LOOP (London Outer Orbital Path), a 150 mile pathway which circles the metropolis within the M25. The section we’ll be doing is apparently one of the most picturesque and follows the Cray Valley from Crayford through to Petts Wood.
We’ll be passing through water meadows, nature reserves, National Trust woodland and some urban areas on this walk of approx. 8.5 miles. There are a few hills but mostly we’ll be walking along the river valley.

If you’d like to come along, we’ll be meeting at 10.30am outside WH Smiths on the concourse of London Bridge Station. This will give enough time to buy a ticket to Crayford station (although as it’s in zone 6, it may work out cheaper to buy an all zones off-peak ticket in advance), and to catch the 10.58 arriving at approx. 11.30am. We’ll find somewhere for lunch halfway along the route, and will be passing various shops, but it would be useful to pack a drink and some snacks. Bringing a waterproof coat and wearing comfortable walking shoes or trainers would also be advisable. We should get to Petts Wood Station (zone 5) at about 4.30-5.00pm.
If torrential rain is forecast on the day, we’ll probably call the walk off but we will go ahead if it’s just showery.
Let me know if you’re interested and I’ll sign you up.
