Nottinghamshire Healthcare's North Notts Volunteering Project aims to promote social inclusion by offering additional complementary support for people with mental health problems who are receiving services from the NHS Trust.
Volunteers, including people who have experienced mental health issues, share their passions and skills with people who need to engage in meaningful activity and redevelop their social skills, enabling NHS staff to increase the quality of care they can provide. The North Notts Volunteering Project also supports recovering service users in voluntary placements within their communities, working with the Volunteer Centres to find such placements and then providing ongoing support. We also provide a Mentoring and Befriending Foundation accredited befriending scheme, matching our trained volunteers with someone who needs a bit of help building up their social networks and activities, helping them to live a more active and engaged life. The project currently operates in Ashfield, Mansfield, Newark and Bassetlaw Districts with flexible hours to accommodate volunteers in full-time or part-time employment.
