Hartwood Enterprises is a social enterprise offering high-quality landscaping, grounds improvements and access improvements across the Bristol area.
The team of paid staff, trainees and horticulture students carry out contract work for organisations and individuals.
Approach and current projects
The Hartwood project provides holistic solutions to training by creating real opportunities for students and trainees to participate in all aspects of project work delivery. In this way we are able to function as a high-quality landscaping contractor at the same time as providing valuable experience and qualifications for young people in the south Bristol area.
The project is currently focused on encouraging local participation in landscape and environmental improvements. Examples of recent projects are building outdoor teaching and play areas in school grounds, managing trees in public parkland, and installing signs along footpaths. An important part of Hartwood's remit is ongoing maintenance of these and other public open spaces.
Want to volunteer for Hartwood Enterprises?
We need people with a range of skills - social and practical to help us fulfil our commitment to sharing knowledge within the community.
Anyone is welcome to join the team from Monday to Thursday between 9.30 am and 4.30 pm to learn new practical skills in a rewarding and enjoyable working environment. In return we can provide training, experience and the opportunity to be involved in a forward-looking social and environmental initiative.
Volunteers are involved in a range of practical environmental and horticultural activities. They are also encouraged to look at vocational training that would increase their chances of finding employment within the land based sector.
