Allies in Bristol is a volunteer Independent Visitor Service for children and young people who are in care in Bristol.
Our Allies visit, befriend, support and advise the children and young people who are referred to our service establishing and maintaining successful long-term friendships.
Volunteers and young people go out together regularly and do fun activities or sometimes just sit and talk. We reimburse expenses.
The support and friendship of an Ally can make a huge difference to a young person’s life. Volunteers tell us that they find it very rewarding.
We particularly need to recruit volunteers who are of African, Caribbean or dual heritage, and we need more male volunteers.
To be an Ally, you need to be able to relate to young people and be a good role model. You also need to be patient, non-judgmental, committed and reliable.
