The Big Lunch is a very simple idea from the Eden Project.
The aim is to get as many people as possible across the UK to have lunch with their neighbours in a simple act of community, friendship and fun. It has been running each summer since 2009, and this year takes place on Sunday 3rd June - The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
CSV Chief Executive, Lucy de Groot says: "The Big Lunch is a fantastic opportunity to start playing a more active role in your community.
“While sitting down with your neighbours on June 3rd, you can think what else you could do to make a difference. You might be inspired to transform an area of wasteland into a community allotment, clean up graffiti or help housebound people with their shopping, DIY or gardening.
“CSV’s Make a Difference Day has happened every October for the last 16 years and has involved hundreds of thousands of volunteers. We would welcome anyone inspired to further action by their Big Lunch.”
