The UK's leading volunteering and training charity.
Many children living in our 21st century cities have less freedom to explore the natural world than previous generations. The Out to Play Activity Pack aims to encourage and foster childrens' natural sense of wonder in all living things, from the tiniest seed to the mightiest tree.
Being wildlife detectives, growing windowsill salad, making willow lanterns, or listening to the world through the ears of a bat - The Out to Play Activity Pack is full of stimulating and fun activities that engage children with the natural environment.

All of the activities within more than 40 pages have been tried and tested as part of the Out to Play Project (funded by Better Play) which aims to engage children in the natural environment and encourage the imaginative use of outdoor spaces.
The pack is written as a resource for playworkers and teachers who are keen on using the outdoor environment with children between two and twelve - pages specify the most suitable age for each activity, and are designed to be easily photocopied and used as handouts with groups.
The friendly layout includes nature information, amazing facts, suggestions for extended activities or free play, and health and safety advice. Most of the activities require no specialist or expensive equipment, and all have received a resounding thumbs-up from the children we have worked with!
While many of the activities can be done at any time of the year, some work best in a certain season. Indeed, the passage of the year through spring, summer, autumn and winter is one of the fundamental things for children to appreciate about the natural world.
Normally retailing at £12.00, the Out to Play Activity Pack is available to purchase from CSV Environment for £10.00 (schools and statutory agencies) or £8.00 (play organisations and voluntary groups). Postage and packing is £1.50.
