Leadership Training - A Teacher's Perspective

Patricia Francourt is the Learning Support Centre Manager at Lampton School in Hounslow, Middlesex; the school has been working with CSV Education since 2006, delivering leadership training for students…

“Lampton School first came across the Young Leaders Course in 2006. It was an ideal opportunity for the school to run a student leadership programme which was a key part of our school development plan.

Working with CSV Education has made a huge difference to our pupils. Some had low motivation and self- confidence; others already had good leadership qualities but needed to develop their potential.

Almost all of the pupils have moved on to other projects in school. Some are peer mentors, others have organised sports days, planned the school prom and led Duke of Edinburgh Activities.

Pupils who have completed the leadership training are very good role models in the school, they are committed to their responsibilities and show a “can do attitude.” The school has seen huge improvements in attitude, motivation and aspiration levels.

Young Leaders is a fantastic opportunity and investment for the future. The programme integrates pupils from all races, gender and needs in the most effective way. As one of our pupils Halima put it: “to go on this course is a once in a life time opportunity.”
