Parent Mentoring

CSV Parent Mentoring supports families who have been identified as those who could benefit from individual and targeted help in the home and in community settings.

CSV Parent Mentoring projects are taking place in Southwark, Islington, Lewisham, Southend-on-Sea, Coventry, Derby, Bristol and York.

"It’s about taking the time to listen to families, acting as a strong role model and giving practical help and support."

The focus is on prevention and aims to intervene early through volunteers providing additional resources to families in greatest need.

This works towards building parents' confidence in their ability to handle times of change, challenge or crisis and strengthen their parenting skills by offering friendship, advocacy or mentoring support.

Can you help?

We are looking for volunteers who can understand the difficulties faced by families and provide friendship, advice and support.

This is a demanding role but we will be here to train and support you every step of the way. You could volunteer closely with Social Services to complement to the services they offer. It’s about taking the time to listen to families, acting as a strong role model and giving practical help and support.

You’ll need to live locally and be able to commit to at least one visit a week for a minimum of six months.

CSV Parent Mentoring is based on CSV's highly successful Volunteers in Child Protection (ViCP) programme.
